    Defender 90 Build

Finally decided to go with the Land Rover Defender 90 (the expensive and "rare" one). I just bought it so I should get it in about 2 weeks. Here is a list of parts I have so far:

    ESC: FXR

Servo: MG946R (cheap yet effective) - chassis mounted

TX/Rx: Not sure, want a DX3r or 3PK, but too much for now.

Batt: 2S Lipo, probably around 2500mah, still need to purchase.

    Axles: RC4WD T-Rex 60's

Suspension: Need to research but Im sure either the front/rear or both will be leafed. Might end up using TLT shocks up front and leafing the rear.

Chassis: Home made from 1/2" steel square tube, bent and halved (made it a while back and saved it for a special build since I think it came out really nice. Just to measure it to make sure it works with this body, wheel base is around 277mm - 10.8")

Rims: RC4WD OEM Steel Stock beadlocks

Tires: RC4WD Mud Thrashers with stock foams, will stiffen sidewalls eventually.

Trans: Axial, more for strength and ease. Since I dont want to cut the interior I may end up going with my GD600 to a transfer case.

Scale goodies: 3Racing winch, just got it and like it alot. roof rack (will make from 3/16" brake line), accesories like sleeping bag, shovel....

Body: Unknown manufacturer (Hong Kong retailers keeping it a secret apparently) Defender 90. Will have headlights, brake lights and maybe spot light or lights incorporated into the roof rack. Not sure on color yet, need to do more research to get it as "realistic" and classic looking as possible.

Crap, thats alot of work now that I see it. I hope to have this done within the next 2 months. Pics up soon of what I have so far.

    Re: Defender 90 Build

It might have been cheaper because its on pre-order, so it might take 2-6 weeks to get here. I looked it over really good, checked the measurements, details and such, and i am 99.9 percent sure it is. here is a link t it. The vender still has some i think.

    Re: Defender 90 Build

After a little research I learned that the Defenders did not have leaf springs. In fact, they used sway bars, 3 link I think. Thats actually good news, less time, less money, better performance, slightly quicker build. Found this awesome site, ECR that restores and updates Defenders.

    Re: Defender 90 Build

    Found the color I want:

The colors are a bit different looking to me, but to be sure I researched the paint code and found this:

    Coniston Green LRC570/HYE

Found a few places I could find it but I need to figure out if that type of paint will work with and airbrush and plastic the body is made of.
