Nothing too fancy, just the bed, for now.

No, it will be all one color, just the bed done in liner. I got this stuff at Autozone that already has the sand in it. It works perfectly for this scale. Just enough texture to believe, without being too much. I thought about maybe doing the undercarriage, but I think it will be a bigger hassle than it's worth.

I'm torn on the wheels a little. I have some dark grey and I have some black, both flat finish. Opinions?

Well, I wanted something that looked more like standard steel wheels, as opposed to Hummer beadlocks. I do like the plain flat black look, so I will probably just spray them flat black, and detail the bolts.

have you ever tryed doing a wash or antiqueing? paint them the dark gun metal, the brush on thined down flat black, and imidiatly whip away everything you can leaving the black in the cracks and maybe a little bit on the surfaces to give that steel wheel look. but mostly you whip everything away but whats in the cracks

ive been up here in dallas the last few days hitting all the LHS, and havnt found a good dark steel paint yet. MM steel was WAY too silver. i did buy some MM metalic graphite, im anxious to see how it looks.

I have heard of those techniques. However I am looking for more of a stockish look. Plus you know I am all about the simple.

try regis mfg for the paint. they are out of dallass. we use some of their paint at work, its called new cast and it looks just like steel after it has been sandblasted. im going to paint the cage on my jeep that color so i will have pics soon.
this is a driveshaft adapter that i machined and painted with it.

    Re: Mike's Toyota

Ok, so I got my FX-R in the mail as well as the seats and other goodies. No driver yet, but he should be here pretty quickly. Got the body painted and most of the interior done as well. And then I took it outside to give it a little testing. Everything was good, until I broke the CVD pin on one side. So I had to replace it with an MIP unit I had as a backup, and got it rolling again.
