    Tommy's Scaler Build

    Well, it begins!

The plan is an SCX-10 based F-350 that will look like a nice street truck/daily driver that's been modified for offroad fun on the weekends. So not a full-on expedition setup, not a huge mud truck, not a beater trail rig, but not a show queen, either. Think of a one ton truck running on 38s or 40s. I don't have crazy plans to go overboard with all the scale accessories (yet). I want to get it up and running and performing decently first.

I may even go out of my way to hinder performance for the sake of realism. I don't plan on weighing down my wheels, for example. I may even add weight to the chassis to get the right weight/balance. I may add leaf springs to the rear just like the real truck I'm copying. But first things first, I want it up and running!

    The goodies will include:
    CC Sidewinder ESC (on order)
Hand Brothers servo/track bar mount for a 3 link up front
    55T Integy
3S Lipo in the 2500 mah range
    CC BEC
    JR z9100T steering servo
I plan on using my 7 channel Multiplex radio until it sells.

I'd like to get some 1.55 wheels/tires for it, but they may be a bit on the short side. 1.9s wouldn't be too bad, though. I'd really like to find some wheels with lots of backspacing to tuck them under the fenders since the axles are a little wide for this body, IMO. If I think they're too wide I may put some TLTs under it. Eventually, it'll get front and rear winches and LEDs, too. Those are down the road, though. ;)

    as far as 1.55s

you have to take a look at rc4wd's new tires coming out.

the new Rock Stomper is as scale as it gets for a swamper.

they are also next to the old 1.9 stompers in the pics. they measure just under 4.25.

Fantastic! I've been waiting for those to come out and they look great! Now the question will be do I run Swampers, Boggers, or maybe Swampers up front and Boggers in the rear?

well you don't want "a huge mud truck" so the boggers are out. you don't want "a beater trail rig" so that's a no for the bogger/swamper combo.

    so.... swampers all around.

You hit on my dilemma exactly, Ric! It looks like the Boggers will perform much better since there are more voids in the lugs, but that's not really the look I'm after....nor is the combination setup (Swampers/Boggers). So I've got some thinking to do. Hmm...my Jeep is street driven and I'm contemplating Boggers for it!
