here is the start of my entry into the Lone Star Scale Comp. it is just a roller right now. i am going with some tried and true components to make this as effortless as posible.

AX-10 axles
AX-10 trans w/DNA dig (new servo mount!)
TSS scale frame (Thanks Cory  )
traxxas big bore shocks
RC4WD "landies" wheels
Trail Doc XL tires
FXR esc w/CCBEC
7T HH Cobalt Puller
645mg servos
drifter led lights

i still have to fab up the steering. i'm going to try a chassis mounted steering servo. :eek2: i also still need to work on an interior and possibly a winch. let's just say there is a lot of work left to do. Anyways, on with the pics.

and the flex shot. i think i'm going the limit the flex quite a bit though.

Nice start, but I dont think digs are allowed at the comp so you might need to unload that extra weight.

DNF
03-24-2009, 01:51 PM
you are correct, the comp doesn't allow dig. i'm going to lock it out while i'm there. i couldn't find my old output so i left the dig on there. i'm not real worried about winning so the extra weight is alright with me. besides, i'm so used to driving with dig. i wouldn't mind having it on my scale truck too.

flip the tranny around and use the dig for a 2wd/4wd option. put it in lock when you want to smoke the rear tires...

is that a 11" or 11.5" chassis? measured to center of humps.
any special plans for the wheels? rust? steel colored paint? as is?

you might look into these shocks...

thanks guys,

Athens, you're right. i'm gonna have to throw that bread out now.

Ric, now you're talking.

Cory, it looks like it's the 11". i haven't decided on the wheels. i will probably give it some rust. i have thought about those shocks but i think i'm going to try a droop setup with these first.

i've wanted to do this build for a while. i'm finally taking the time to do it.

its mounted on top of the front chassis brace and the back is screwed into the lowest holes for the shock mounts.
next will be a battery tray in the back

thanks, i'm running a HH 7t puller.

Bounce Flash FTW! i picked up a couple of pieces of poster board last night and figured i would try a few pics. i didn't have it propped up right so i was having to hold it with one hand and shoot with the other. can't wait till i have it set up right. should make for some pretty good pics.

Hey Cory, I had a question about these shocks. have you tried to mount these yet? if so, did you change the ends? i'm thinking about using these but i'm not sure about the smaller rod ends.

STANG KILLA SS
04-05-2009, 09:29 PM
yeah there already mounted, no i used the 2mm lower ball link and just a 4-40 threw the top with nuts either side, the top could use one of those tamiya brass bushing/tube things but i couldnt find any. there might me some pics of them in the G55 thread.
the shocks are fking amazing lol.

DNF

hmmm, well that sux. i really do like the look of these but if i did use them on the Axial axles i would have to make new mounting points and spacers for the old mounting points. since they use the same 3mm bolt to mount the shocks and the lower links. i'll have to think about that.

in other news, i got the front bumper this weekend and put it on. love the look and finish of it. i didn't reallize how big those leds were. they look great!

thanks, hope to see you out there

the scale shop doesn't even have a scaler :lol2: you can drive mine if you want. i had some major issues with the interior so i scrapped it and went a lot simpler.

anyways, got the bod painted up.

sweet! holy crap you did a good job on the lights. the wheels go perfect.
HUGE spare though! do you need something smaller? i could bring a spare 1.9 wheel and tire for you to throw on for the comp.
very nice. what about having the rear glass "rolled" half way down? its hot on the border you know!

DNF
04-30-2009, 10:00 PM
thanks man, i hear you about that spare. it would be great if i could borrow one. i thought about rolling the windows down but haven't done it yet. i will probably do it but i don't think i'll get it done before the comp. i would really like to figure out a way to open up the vent window.
