View Full Version : Getting back in

01-04-2014, 07:44 PM
,So thanks to the guy who bought my Chevy, I got that itch again and decided to go big!!!

Tires cut off!!!

Off to a good start. Fresh chassis and tranny. Axles in the mail

I never realized how well built those old tonkas were. It took forever to drill and cut through the metal
Now just waiting for the axles and some tires

Any comments or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for looking and can't wait to go running with you guys again!!!

01-05-2014, 09:00 AM

01-05-2014, 05:05 PM

01-05-2014, 05:42 PM

01-05-2014, 06:24 PM
Where you gonna stick that clark? Bend over and I'll show ya! I'd like to see ya try that!

For the rear suspension I can recommend the Dinky Cantilever setup for the SCX10 (http://new.dinkyrc.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=142&category_id=10&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=63). I recently put it on my class 1 H2 and performance was actually really good.

That's awesome. It's basically a traxxas revo set up. Any idea when it might be back in stock

Not a clue but the only part of the kit that is unique is the mount, which is simply machined delrin so it shouldnt be too long.

Axles just arrived in the mail, nothing special, just stock scx ones, got shocks coming in hopefully by Friday... now just missing the one thing that I always forget..... that stupid 3 link y-thingy....
anybody got an extra one lying around I can buy off of them???

01-07-2014, 08:31 PM
A good shot with the axles under it

01-07-2014, 10:30 PM
Just for shits and giggles, I found a slash wheel...

I'm thinking 1.5's on this one. Fronts missing the Y connector but that's in the mail, just found a rooster esc:woohoo-9:
I think it's coming along good so far.

01-07-2014, 10:39 PM
looking good..

01-08-2014, 10:06 PM
Any chance anybody might let me borrow a set of 1.5 or small 1.9's for mock up? With possible intentions to buy them?

01-09-2014, 10:09 AM
talk to luenishing..he might have something for you.

01-09-2014, 10:48 AM
I have set of TF2 1.5 and 1.9 mud slinger you can try. I can bring out on next gtg if u want to try it out. I am not selling the 1.5 but 1.9 is new and I am selling if you are interested.

01-09-2014, 11:05 AM
Hey luenhsing, here's my number call me I work in Dallas, maybe I can pick up those tires, like I said for the mock up to see what I'd actually be needing
Thanks in advance

01-09-2014, 06:11 PM
Another update... I know I'm a bit of a crack head when I got a new project...
Shocks came in today and got them mounted!!!
90's up front, 100's in the rear... Seems to have a good amount of flex, hard to tell without wheels though.
Some one on rcc sent me the 3-link y thingy and I got a ripped envelope today which sucks a#%!!!
And like I said, roosters on the way, radio... I'm stealing my sons.... And I'll pick up a servo at hobby town this weekend. Can't wait to see this beast on the rocks

01-09-2014, 06:22 PM
One more...lol!!!

01-09-2014, 06:55 PM
The Eddie Cruiser is coming along nicely!

01-13-2014, 01:13 AM
So tonight the wannabango lives!!!!!

We took the kids to the park today, and I met a guy running a slash... We got to talking, and he mentioned he had a crawler but that he took it muddying and it burnt something... And that it had been sitting still full of mud for like six months... I asked if he wanted to get rid do it and he said sure 75 bucks, with a remote... I offered him fifty, since it want running and he said sure why the hell not!
So I got home plugged in a battery, and it worked fine... The pinion came loose, explaining why it wouldn't go no where!!! Pulled all the electronics and voila! Great chassis and parts to at least get the beast moving!

And thanks to hunter, he let me use his flat irons, which fit pretty darn good. And it turned out to have a decent amount of flex too
I actually had to get rid of a little of the angle of the front shocks to keep the servo from hitting the cross member

And for the mean time, I got the axial servo, radio and ae2 esc in her till the rooster comes in. And it turns out the motor is dying so I'll have to get one to get her running right. So far she handles awesome, and actually better than I expected.

Thanks for looking and I'll post more pics and a video soon!:woohoo-9:

01-13-2014, 04:45 PM
Man this is so cool I can't wait to see it out

01-13-2014, 07:16 PM
Sorry, I sold the tire to Justin.

01-13-2014, 09:16 PM
Hey it's cool, I found a complete scx10 for 50 bucks and raped it for parts for this rig... Then turned around and made my money back parting it out on rcc:woohoo-9:

Thank you though for almost letting me borrow them.lol

01-16-2014, 05:02 PM
We need to see the truck on the trail!

01-16-2014, 11:31 PM
I just got a integy 35t today in the mail, still waiting on a rooster I bought on rcc last week, the guy sent me paypal tracking and seems to have never dropped it off at the p.o. Tracking is still showing electronic postage received, and now he won't answer my pm's. It's got a ae3, with the normal voltage issues, cuts out at full throttle and under load. But damn right I can't wait to get it on the rocks

01-17-2014, 08:28 AM
Couldn't sleep, got new leads soldered on to the integy motor and installed it last night, I don't think I've ever run a axial 27t before, and man are they shit, world of difference, just still need to swap out the esc, whenever that shows up

01-17-2014, 08:47 AM
Sal, I think I has the same issue with ae-3 before, and after I swap to a lipo 2s the problem went alway. Are you using a non lipo?

01-17-2014, 09:00 AM
Yeah, when I got rid of all my rigs, li gave up all my batteries, so I have to build that up too, just got one 4200mah nimh from my sons crawler. Hopefully I get the rooster soon, I figured I'd give it a couple more days before I go through paypal and start bashing him on the forum. I like the roosters, and have put them in every rig I've built and never had any issues. And I can usually find them quick on rcc for a decent price. Oh and here's the beast running and the esc stalling on some of my kids shoes lol

01-18-2014, 09:41 AM
Should be a beast when it's done.......

01-18-2014, 10:20 AM
Thanks man, can't wait to really get it going...
So I moved the body mounts on my boys crawler...again... And installed a new bumper I got yesterday from a trade. And installed a new servo on his, so now technically I have a running scaler again, and an almost runner!:woohoo-9:
The guy said it was a matzilla bumper... Don't matter it looks good

01-18-2014, 04:48 PM
So this is what I got today after a week of no responses
"It's been gone and should have been there by now but I see what you mean about the tracking too. it doesn't show anything. I'm not sure what the problem is but I live in a small town and I'm good friends with the postmaster so I'll find out. Let me have him track it and see whats going on. Don't worry, i stand behind anything I sell and I'll make sure you get it with out a doubt even if I have to buy you a brand new one. I'll get back with you today. I apologize for the problem."

Still waiting on an answer so I'll give him another day to get it resolved

01-19-2014, 10:09 PM
So this is what I got today...

" Re: Rooster
Found it! Apparently it never left the sorting facility in Huntsville, Alabama. Somehow the label got torn off so it never got scanned (or at that's what they tell me anyway) It should have been scanned when it left the PO in Laceys Spring so I don't think I believe that story. Regardless, I'm just glad they found it so I'll pick it up tomorrow and ship it priority with a ridiculous amount of tape over the label.

I really hope this ain't bulls#%*!!!

01-20-2014, 02:54 PM
This is what I got today on the rooster!

The post office is freakin closed!!!

it it would have been cheaper to just say, hey man I messed up and forgot to drop it off or haven't had a chance to drop it off at the post office, than to repay paypal to make a whole new shipping label. And still lie on top of that!!!

thanks for listening to me rant

01-21-2014, 04:04 PM
Dang, sorry about the rooster. Your rig is looking good! Thanks for helping me with the Novak and Lipo systems the other day at the hobby town in rockwall

01-21-2014, 05:45 PM
Lol. That's cool man. You get it all hooked up

01-22-2014, 10:44 AM
Yeah she went in smooth

01-22-2014, 03:01 PM
Oh My God... FINALLY!!!!! and i was just about to go ape shit on rcc and decided to check usps.com first...

he finally dropped it off at the p.o and it was Finally accepted in huntsville al!!!

01-22-2014, 09:43 PM
It's been processed in Birmingham, al. That's ten hours away according to google maps!!! He'll if it departs tonight, I might get it tomorrow

01-27-2014, 11:44 PM
