View Full Version : Z71HULK's try at a 1.9 JK...

Yep, another JK build! I know there has been several but I love th bodies and finally got the stuff together to build my own.

It all started as a Clod Bodied, Leaf Spring 1.9er:

Parted that out and bought one of these:

Decided that wasn't what I wanted either so I pulled everything off I didn'd need and got some more parts:

I got the CMS 3-Link and rear 4-Link done with some small spaers for a 13" WB:

Finally after a little trimming, I got my JK body mounted firmly:

Wheel & Tire Combo:

That is where I am at now, fixing to go outside and do some more trimming on the body when it cools off.

Specs for now:
-SCX10 Chassis, Axles, Tranny
-Axial 27t Motor
-Tazer ESC
-TQ3 with 3 Pos. Switch
-3racing Winch
-1.9 Axial Beadlocks
-1.9 Rok Lox

My plans are to get it going and drive the h*ll out of it and then upgrade as I go. After I get it running, I want to add:
-Sidewinder or Mamba Max
-DX3 or DX3E
-35t Integy
-3S Lipo
-Proline Shocks

So let me know what you think, as I am always open to criticism, and thanks for looking!

Ok I got the rest of my Rok Lox in and mounted up:

Now the question is, do I keep the fender flares? Or do I cut them off like the JK below?

Do you have the link to the JK on Walmarts site? I used to have it but lost it...its the $21 one right?

Replied to your PM, but they are discontinued and bring significantly more now!

If the flares were half as wide, I'd say keep them, but since they're so wide, I'd lop them off.

Steve, the JKs sold out some time last year and now you're only chance to get one is through the used market. I've got three of them and if you have some SCX10 parts maybe we could work out a trade of some sort. ;)

Ya thats my only problem is how wide they are...

PM sent Tommy. The Rok lox fit that body really well. I think you should cut the fenders just a bit, and maybe find some 0 offset rims...like what Cory had made up a while back (not sure if he has any left though).

Ya I think there will be some sort of fender trimming.

As for the rims, I want something that sticks out a little more, but I am flat broke right now. So the Axial's are here for a little while anyways.

Alright I made up a list of everything I need to get done to finish the rig, and I hope I didn't forget anything...

What needs to be done:
-Trim fender flares
-Trim front bumper
-Mount winch
-Lower it
-Lengthen rear links
-Sand and paint
-Inner fenders
-Mount electronics

I should hopefully have some updates tonight or tomorrow and pics with a real camera!

One crappy update pic:

More tomorrow...

Finally a couple of crappy updated pics!

Not much new, but an update nonetheless! I am now trying to work on the body and decide on electronics. What do yall think about a Sidewinder ESC with a 35T Integy on 3S Lipo?

02-26-2011, 07:31 PM
Ok, I had a buddy do a little airbrush work to the body, and then I added some decals:

Now, I have all new electronics and the Bogger's/1.9's are gone. I ordered some JConcepts 2.2 Tense beadlocks and 2.2 Proline TSL's today. I don't know how they are going to look, but I have always wanted a 2.2 rig. It may also get cut up for a tuber in the future so I think 2.2's were the right choice! Thoughts, comments, concerns all welcome!

looking good

Thank you! I just hope it looks good on 2.2's...

Well I got my new tires and rims in and mounted:

Took it out for a quick spin and I like the tires, might need some weights. I need to adjust the wheelbase slightly, adjust the shocks, and do some body trimming. Thats the good news. The bad news it is still glitching like crazy and I have to have the antenna within 3-4 inches of the rig for it to work properly. I'm guessing its a reciever problem and I'm wondering if switch from the TQ3 to a 2.4ghz system would help me out? Any thoughts, I am just about clueless...

Well I finally bit the bullet and upgraded my TX/RX to a Spektrum DX3E. Hopefully that will fix my problems!

04-22-2011, 03:31 PM
While those wheels/tires look badass, I think the scale of the 1.9"s is still a much better look...but I bet those perform well!
That new paint job looks awesome, how'd the DX3E work out, fix your problems?
new here btw, names Derek, sweet build man!

Ya the DX3E fixed my problems and the TSL's work well. It is for sale now though.
