figured id go ahead and start this now, i don't have much to start with, but what i have so far is good enough to make a thread about.....

anyways, the truck base will be a SCX10 with a Tamiya CR-01 bronco body and 1.9 Rox Lox, the Rox Lox are on back order so ill get them when i get them, for now Ill run the stock flat irons, I'm expecting the kit and body to arrive tomorrow so i went down to rat shack to get a few things to make an electronics box and a front and rear led set with fog lights. Ill have more to update tomorrow but let me know what y'all think so far.

The Parts:

Eric, it should fit. I had mine mounted next to the steering servo under the hood of my F-350. It also served as a body mount! :)

got alittle update, im not going to use the elec. box just yet as i dont have my LED's run for the body or even wired for that matter.

anyways, i noticed that the bronco body has a 10" WB and the SCX-10 is an 11.5" i believe, so im going to take about 3/4 out of the front and rear susp. and lop off about a 1.5" section of the back of the chassis, other than that, mounting and painting the body, its done. What are yalls thoughts?

It'll look great, but I'd be a little concerned with such a short wheelbase. But give it a go! It might work great and will certainly have good maneuverability.

got another small update, i decided what body om going to use until i find my hacksaw to do the links and chassis, i also cut every other lug on the flat irons to give them alittle more performance and to "round" them out a bit cause stock, they look to boxy in my opinion, let me know what yall think fellas

Looking great, Eric! I would either go with white or maybe a vintage late '60s early '70s paint color.

Crusher1

Not really feeling the fender extensions, personally. Maybe if they were only 1/2 as wide?

Crusher1
02-24-2010, 11:43 PM
i got an idea while sitting in front of this thing (idea was actually from Windie) im thinking about buying some diamond style styrene to make some "rock-armor" style panels, let me know what yall think of the moch up

Can you use some thin gauge sheetmetal instead? The styrene would work okay, but steel would be even better. :)

Crusher1
02-25-2010, 01:47 PM
do they make that sheet metal in the diamond plate? if so id gladly use it!

Tommy R
02-25-2010, 01:52 PM
Not sure. I think they do, but I'm not a fan of diamond plate so I never paid attention to where people got it! :lol2: Check out RCC or Scale4x4 sites. I'm sure someone has posted links to where to find it....

Crusher1
02-25-2010, 02:01 PM
you now? just plain old sheet metal would look good too

im about to moch up some fender panels for the front, ill have ppics in a few

Crusher1
02-25-2010, 02:23 PM

What is the stock wheelbase compared to now?

Crusher1
02-26-2010, 07:03 PM
its 1 1/2" shorter then stock, i shortend it 3/4" front and rear and chopped 1/2" off of the front and rear of the chassis and also cut the front crossmember were the "electronics box" mounts

eric113
02-27-2010, 05:07 PM
Looks like you could gain .5 back by stretching the rear and wouldn't look too bad.
