i was lucky enough to pick up this SCX10 at a great deal. i received it as a tuber and spent the afternoon putting it back to stock. only thing i added that was mine was the 7t puller.

here's where i'm at....

i'm undecided where i want to go with this one so the build will be slow. hopefully i'll have it done by out december scale gtg.

I still say a cab with flatbed. I think a clod cab dovetail front to grill with the headlights would look sweet! Wrecker style bed. If you want some help with tube work let me know.

Nice.

What is the overall width with those wheels?

9 1/4.

thats what came with the scx10. the offset may be too wide for a scaler.

Would cut down on rust but other than that ... what is the benefit? Just curious.

i like the blackout look on the hardware on this on for some reason. if we plan to hit water then i would be a good idea.

why are you guys rounding the edge of the tires? Is it a performance or scale thing?

Tommy R

For me it's a scale thing. I don't think Flat Irons look real unless the corners have been radiused.

Do you have any probles with articulation on the front? My serco keeps hitting the frame does your?
Are you going to move the steering servo for a more scale look? I might change what body you cam put on.

copy and paste deal here.................

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/bowtiepic/DSC01562.jpg

plans are to convert my existing scx10 over to use the body, bed, bumpers, sliders and whatever i can use from the kit.

other parts include a set of 1.9 rok lox and a set of mayhem's 1.9 wheels.

now time to build...

this is where i'm at now..

all pics are mock up..

as you can see for me to use the honcho body and bed on my sxc i really need to stretch the rear about 1/2-3/4 (i had previously stretched the stock scx with the original build)

http://www.compprocrawlers.com/albums/album77/DSC01564.sized.jpg

the front bumper carries the 3Racing winch with no problems.
http://www.compprocrawlers.com/albums/album77/DSC01565.sized.jpg

if you look close i left more lexan under the grill to help hide the huge gap the body has.

here are the wheels
and tires all 96 screws done... thanks mayhem!

Hows the grip with those rock loc tires and are they bigger than the hammers that came with the scx10??

Great job Ric

thanks!!

yes they are taller about 1/4 more on height..

they hooked up well yesterday considering the condition of the terrain. some areas i dont think any tire would of made the climbs, just too slick.

Ric,

I saw in both this thread and your build thread over on RCCrawler.com that you made Delrin links. Did you use 1/4" or 5/16" delrin rod? I am getting ready to replace the links on my TR as the plastic links it came with are starting to suffer a lot of wear & damage.

BOWTIE
12-27-2009, 08:06 PM
I used 5/16 for links. I was thinking 1/4 but not sure if it wouldve held up.

Hey Ric,
What is the length of the front body(from back of rear cab window to front of headlight stickers)
Thinkin about cutting up a hard body and shortening it, then buying the honcho rear section to create a hardbody honcho. So I am looking for the length of the front body section and also the distance from the center of the front fenderwell to the back of the cab...

Thanks,
John
